BIOGRAPHY

Richard Hechter is a family law, personal injury, and medical malpractice attorney for Morris Law Group. Rich is an accomplished and skilled litigator who has spent the last 30 years being widely recognized across Minnesota for his integrity, loyalty, and steadfast knowledge of state and federal law. He treats every client with dignity and compassion, working to bring them the best outcome to their cases possible.

Rich is a board-certified civil jury trial specialist. He earned his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul and his Masters of Business Administration from Augsburg University in Minneapolis. Rich also graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Speech Communications.

Prior to joining Morris Law Group, Rich was a respected counselor at several firms across the Twin Cities, including five years working in his own law practice.

Among other things, Rich defeated the “drop-down” coverage provision in insurance policies by creatively arguing the clause violated Minnesota’s Human Rights Act by discriminating on the basis of familial relationships. In addition, he nearly doubled a Rule 68 offer of judgment in a jury trial verdict. Rich has successfully modified physical custody in many family law disputes, awarding sole physical and legal custody to his client.

When he’s not practicing law and fighting for his clients, Rich is a musician who plays drums and guitar. He also collects domain names, is always on the lookout for entrepreneurial opportunities and enjoys spending time with his wife and Cuddles, their golden retriever. He has two adult children. In 2011, Rich wrote a five star-reviewed book, “Divorced in 60 Seconds.” Email Rich at: rhechter@morrislawmn.com
