BIOGRAPHY

Our founder, Richard L. Morris, is a lifelong Minnesotan who started Morris Law Group in 2002. Dick practices primarily Minnesota real estate law, commercial law, and civil litigation. His 40 years of legal experience has earned him a reputation for unwavering commitment to his clients and the Edina community. He is considered among the best in Minnesota in his areas of practice.

“For me, success comes with a longtime commitment to top-notch legal services,” Dick says. “That’s why our clients come back to us over and over again — and they refer us to their friends. I’m proud of that.”

Before founding Morris Law Group, Dick was a senior partner of Morris, Carlson and Hoelscher, P.A., a firm focusing on real estate litigation and bankruptcy. Prior to that, he was a senior partner in Morris, Fuller and Seaver, P.A., a real estate, commercial litigation, and bankruptcy firm.

Dick is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Duluth and William Mitchell College of Law. He began his career as in-house counsel for Eberhardt Company, a local full-service real estate and mortgage company. There, he honed his skills in business and real estate law before entering private practice.

Dick and his wife, Fay, are real estate developers. Their daughter, Heather, runs MLG Title, which is an arm of Morris Law Group. Another daughter, Maren, lives two doors down from Dick and Fay with her two sons. A proud grandfather, Dick drives 8-year-old Jack and 5-year-old Julien to school every day. Dick’s stepson, Joel, is an aspiring film director and writer who lives in Austin, Texas.

Dick is licensed in Minnesota state and federal courts. He is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Dick lives in Edina, Minnesota with Fay and their dog Huckleberry (Hound).
